Marathon Is Now Part of WEG
Marathon was a Regal Beloit brand for decades. In 2024, Regal Rexnord sold its industrial motors and generators business, including Marathon, to WEG. Motors already in service carry Marathon or Regal nameplates either way, and we repair both. Smaller HVAC and commercial motors under the Century and Leeson names remain with Regal Rexnord.
Marathon Equipment We Repair
- General purpose and premium efficiency three phase motors
- Severe duty and chemical duty motors
- Inverter duty motors
- Pump, fan and compressor motors
- Single phase motors
Our Marathon Repair Process
- Incoming inspection. We record the nameplate data and the motor’s condition when it arrives.
- Testing. Ground testing, surge comparison and core loss testing identify winding and core problems.
- Teardown and failure analysis. We inspect bearings, shaft, rotor, stator and housings to find the cause of failure, not just the symptom.
- Written quote. You receive a repair quote, and a replacement quote when a new Marathon motor or equivalent makes more sense.
- Repair. Rewinding, bearing replacement, shaft and housing machining, and brake work as required.
- Balancing and final testing before the motor is returned.
Common Reasons Marathon Motors Come In
- Bearing failure from contamination, misalignment or lubrication problems
- Winding insulation breakdown from heat, moisture or voltage spikes
- Bearing fluting on VFD-driven motors
- Overheating from overload, blocked ventilation or single phasing
- Water and chemical intrusion on severe duty motors
- Shaft and bearing fit wear
What to Send for a Quote
A photo of the nameplate speeds up quoting. On Marathon motors, the model number and catalog number identify the exact design. Include horsepower, voltage and frame if the nameplate is damaged, a short description of the failure, and how quickly you need the motor back.
