A photo of the nameplate speeds up quoting. On Century and A.O. Smith motors, the model number identifies the exact design. Include horsepower, voltage, frame and rotation if the nameplate is damaged, and how quickly you need the motor back.

Winding, testing, dynamic balancing and machining all happen in our own shop. We rewind with Grade H magnet wire and Elantas varnish, a step above what most shops use.

Incoming inspection
We record the nameplate data and the motor’s condition when it arrives.
Testing
Ground testing, surge comparison and core loss testing identify winding and core problems.
Teardown and failure analysis
We inspect bearings, shaft, rotor, stator and housings to find the cause of failure, not just the symptom.
Written quote
You receive a repair quote, and a replacement quote when a new Century motor or equivalent makes more sense.
Repair
Rewinding, bearing replacement, shaft and housing machining, and brake work as required.
Balancing and final testing
before the motor is returned.

We sell new and surplus motors, gearboxes and drives too. Call with the nameplate and we will quote a matched replacement alongside the repair, so you can compare and decide.
Straight answers on Century
Q1Is a small Century motor worth fixing?
Sometimes. Capacitors, start switches and bearings are inexpensive fixes. A burned winding on a small motor usually means replacement is cheaper, and we will quote a matched one.
Q2Our motor says A.O. Smith. Is that the same as Century?
Yes. Century was an A.O. Smith brand until 2011, when Regal Beloit bought A.O. Smith’s motor business. Older motors carry either name.
Q3What should we have ready before we call?
A photo of the nameplate (horsepower, voltage, RPM, frame and model or catalog number), what happened when it failed (tripped, smoked, got noisy, will not start), what it drives, and how fast you need it back. That is enough for us to tell you what to expect.
Q4Should we keep spare motors on the shelf?
For any line you cannot afford to have down, yes. Some OEMs build special motors that only they sell, and those can take weeks to get. Others are standard Baldor or WEG motors we can often have in your hands within a couple of hours. Knowing which is which before something fails is the point, and we can help you sort through it.
