WEG Motor Repair

A Plus Electric Motor Repair, Inc. repairs and rewinds WEG electric motors at our shop in St. Charles, Illinois, and we also sell new WEG motors. When a motor fails, that lets us quote a repair and a replacement side by side and get you running the fastest way. We serve customers throughout northern Illinois, northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin.

In 2024, WEG acquired Regal Rexnord’s industrial motor and generator business, including the Marathon brand. If your motor carries a Marathon nameplate, see our Marathon motor repair page. We repair both.

02 / Good to know

Repair or Replace a WEG Motor

Because we stock new WEG motors, we are not limited to one answer. For larger or specialized motors, repair is usually the better value. For smaller general purpose motors, or when downtime is the priority, an in-stock replacement can be delivered the same day. View motors for sale or read our repair vs. replace cost comparison.

07 / FAQ

Straight answers on WEG

Q1WEG motors are inexpensive. Is repair ever worth it?

On small general purpose motors, often not, and we will tell you that. On larger W22 frames, inverter duty and special motors, repair usually beats the price and lead time of a new one. Call (630) 283-3569 and we will quote both.

Q2Are WEG motors IEC or NEMA?

Both. WEG builds IEC metric and NEMA motors, and the nameplate tells you which. We repair both, including metric bearings, shafts and flange fits.

Q3Marathon is part of WEG now. Does that change anything?

Not for repairs. Marathon and WEG motors already in service get repaired the same way, and we can quote a current replacement from either line. See our Marathon page.

Q4Our motors keep failing. Can you tell us why?

Usually the motor is pointing at something upstream. The most common culprits are incoming power problems, like voltage imbalance, spikes and drive-related shaft currents, and a harsh environment: heat, moisture, dust and washdown chemicals. Misalignment and bearing trouble round out the list. We tear every motor down, find what actually took it out, and tell you, so the replacement does not go the same way.
