06 / FAQ

Straight answers on NORD

Q1What do you need to quote a NORD gearmotor?

The type designation from the nameplate (the SK model), the ratio, the mounting position and the brake voltage if equipped. Photos of the gear unit and motor nameplates are ideal.

Q2Is it worth rebuilding a small NORD unit?

Small, common units are often cheaper to replace, and we will say so. Larger units, stainless and washdown versions and anything with a long lead time are usually worth rebuilding. We quote both.

Q3Why is our gearbox leaking or running hot?

Usually worn seals, the wrong oil level for the mounting position, a plugged breather or overload. We find the cause at teardown and fix it, not just the leak.

Q4Can you pull the motor out and put it back in?

Yes. We can come out, uninstall the motor, and reinstall it once it is repaired, including alignment and drive setup, so your maintenance crew can stay on everything else.
