Nidec Equipment We Repair
What to send us
A photo of the nameplate speeds up quoting. On Nidec and US MOTORS motors, the model number and the ID or catalog number identify the exact design. Include horsepower, voltage, frame and enclosure if the nameplate is damaged, a short description of the failure, and how quickly you need the motor back.

Many motors that started under other names are now Nidec products. Nidec acquired Emerson’s motor business in 2010, which brought the US MOTORS brand into Nidec Motor Corporation. In 2017 Nidec added Leroy-Somer motors and alternators and Control Techniques drives, also from Emerson. In 2019 it acquired Embraco refrigeration compressors.
That means a Nidec job that comes into our shop might carry a US MOTORS, Leroy-Somer, Emerson or Nidec nameplate. We repair all of them, along with the Control Techniques drives that often control them.

Common Reasons Nidec Motors Come In
Need a new Nidec unit instead?
We sell new and surplus motors, gearboxes and drives too. Call with the nameplate and we will quote a matched replacement alongside the repair, so you can compare and decide.
Straight answers on Nidec
Q1Our motor says US MOTORS or Emerson. Is that Nidec?
Yes. Nidec bought Emerson’s motor business in 2010, so US MOTORS and many older Emerson motors are now Nidec products. Leroy-Somer motors and Control Techniques drives joined Nidec in 2017.
Q2What do you need to quote a vertical pump motor?
Horsepower, voltage, RPM, whether it is hollow shaft or solid shaft, the thrust rating, and whether it has a non-reverse ratchet. A photo of the nameplate covers most of it.
Q3How do you decide between repair and replacement?
It mostly comes down to two numbers: what the repair costs and how long a new one takes to arrive. Sometimes the repair costs more than a new motor, but if the OEM is quoting four to five weeks, repair still gets your line running sooner. We lay out both options with real prices and lead times so you can make the call. Call (630) 283-3569 and we will quote it.
Q4Can you pull the motor out and put it back in?
Yes. We can come out, uninstall the motor, and reinstall it once it is repaired, including alignment and drive setup, so your maintenance crew can stay on everything else.
