What to send us

A photo of the nameplate speeds up quoting. On Elektrim motors, the type designation and frame identify the design, along with kW or horsepower, voltage and mounting (B3, B5, B14 and so on). Tell us how quickly you need the motor back.

About Elektrim

Elektrim builds AC motors in ISO 9001 certified plants in Poland, in both IEC metric and NEMA configurations. Elektrim is a business unit of Toolmex Industrial Solutions, part of the Cantoni Group. Because many Elektrim motors are IEC designs, repairs often call for metric bearings, metric shafts and IEC flange dimensions, which we handle in our own machine shop.

04 / How it works

Our Elektrim repair process

Step 01

Incoming inspection

We record the nameplate data and the motor’s condition when it arrives.

Step 02

Testing

Ground testing, surge comparison and core loss testing identify winding and core problems.

Step 03

Teardown and failure analysis

We inspect bearings, shaft, rotor, stator and housings to find the cause of failure, not just the symptom.

Step 04

Written quote

You receive a repair quote, and a replacement quote when a new Elektrim motor or equivalent makes more sense.

Step 05

Repair

Rewinding, bearing replacement, shaft and housing machining, and brake work as required.

Step 06

Balancing and final testing

before the motor is returned.

07 / FAQ

Straight answers on Elektrim

Q1Can we replace an IEC motor with a NEMA one?

Sometimes, with an adapter or modifications, but it is often simpler to match the IEC frame and flange. We will quote whichever gets you running cleanly.

Q2Our Elektrim motor uses metric bearings and shafts. Is that a problem?

No. We work on IEC motors every day, including metric bearings, shafts and B3, B5 and B14 mountings.

Q3How do you decide between repair and replacement?

It mostly comes down to two numbers: what the repair costs and how long a new one takes to arrive. Sometimes the repair costs more than a new motor, but if the OEM is quoting four to five weeks, repair still gets your line running sooner. We lay out both options with real prices and lead times so you can make the call. Call (630) 283-3569 and we will quote it.

Q4Our motors keep failing. Can you tell us why?

Usually the motor is pointing at something upstream. The most common culprits are incoming power problems, like voltage imbalance, spikes and drive-related shaft currents, and a harsh environment: heat, moisture, dust and washdown chemicals. Misalignment and bearing trouble round out the list. We tear every motor down, find what actually took it out, and tell you, so the replacement does not go the same way.
