What to send us

A photo of the nameplate speeds up quoting. On US MOTORS motors, the model number and ID number identify the exact design, including thrust rating on vertical motors. Include horsepower, voltage and frame if the nameplate is damaged, the pump application, and how quickly you need the motor back.

06 / FAQ

Straight answers on US MOTORS

Q1What do you need to quote a vertical hollow shaft motor?

The model and ID number from the nameplate, horsepower, voltage, RPM, thrust rating and whether it has a non-reverse ratchet. Tell us the pump application and how fast you need it back.

Q2Why did the thrust bearing fail?

Common causes are upthrust at startup, pump problems, misalignment, wrong lubrication and water getting in. We check the bearing and the rest of the motor at teardown and tell you what we found.

Q3Can you pull the motor out and put it back in?

Yes. We can come out, uninstall the motor, and reinstall it once it is repaired, including alignment and drive setup, so your maintenance crew can stay on everything else.

Q4Is a rewound motor as good as a new one?

In a lot of cases it is better. We rewind with Grade H magnet wire, a higher temperature rating than most shops use, and seal the windings with Elantas varnish. Plenty of our motors leave the shop in better shape than when they left the factory.
