Quote checklist

What to send us

A photo of the nameplate speeds up quoting. On Marathon motors, the model number and catalog number identify the exact design. Include horsepower, voltage and frame if the nameplate is damaged, a short description of the failure, and how quickly you need the motor back.

02 / Good to know

Marathon Is Now Part of WEG

Marathon was a Regal Beloit brand for decades. In 2024, Regal Rexnord sold its industrial motors and generators business, including Marathon, to WEG. Motors already in service carry Marathon or Regal nameplates either way, and we repair both. Smaller HVAC and commercial motors under the Century and Leeson names remain with Regal Rexnord.

04 / How it works

Our Marathon repair process

Step 01

Incoming inspection

We record the nameplate data and the motor’s condition when it arrives.

Step 02

Testing

Ground testing, surge comparison and core loss testing identify winding and core problems.

Step 03

Teardown and failure analysis

We inspect bearings, shaft, rotor, stator and housings to find the cause of failure, not just the symptom.

Step 04

Written quote

You receive a repair quote, and a replacement quote when a new Marathon motor or equivalent makes more sense.

Step 05

Repair

Rewinding, bearing replacement, shaft and housing machining, and brake work as required.

Step 06

Balancing and final testing

before the motor is returned.

03Bearing fluting on VFD-driven motors

Need a new Marathon unit instead?

We sell new and surplus motors, gearboxes and drives too. Call with the nameplate and we will quote a matched replacement alongside the repair, so you can compare and decide.

07 / FAQ

Straight answers on Marathon

Q1Marathon was sold to WEG. Can we still get our Marathon motors fixed?

Yes. Marathon motors already in service are repaired the same way they always were, and when replacement makes sense we can quote a current equivalent.

Q2Our Marathon model is discontinued. What now?

We can repair or rewind it to the original design, or match a current motor to your frame, mounting, shaft and enclosure so it drops in without changes.

Q3How do you decide between repair and replacement?

It mostly comes down to two numbers: what the repair costs and how long a new one takes to arrive. Sometimes the repair costs more than a new motor, but if the OEM is quoting four to five weeks, repair still gets your line running sooner. We lay out both options with real prices and lead times so you can make the call. Call (630) 283-3569 and we will quote it.

Q4Is a rewound motor as good as a new one?

In a lot of cases it is better. We rewind with Grade H magnet wire, a higher temperature rating than most shops use, and seal the windings with Elantas varnish. Plenty of our motors leave the shop in better shape than when they left the factory.
